THE ANC Youth League's eThekwini region has denied reports that it is riddled with factional fights ahead of its congress tomorrow.

Sthembiso Mshengu, the league's regional chairperson, yesterday denied the existence of factions, calling the allegations "malicious" and aimed at creating tensions ahead of the conference at which new leaders will be elected.

The conference will be opened by league president Julius Malema.

"Reports that there was division (are) totally untrue. As an organisation, we are united.

"We believe the rumours are spread by outside forces who want to distract us as we embark on our preparations for the 2011 local government elections as well as the ANC centenary celebrations in 2012," Mshengu said.

He also denied recent media reports that members were being bribed with municipal contracts and lucrative job offers to nominate individuals to leadership positions.
