Metro FM DJ Unathi Nkayi and the radio station's breakfast show host Thomas Msengana are planning a privatewedding.

The paparazzi are barred from this long- anticipated event.

Sowetan has learnt that the wedding, which will only be attended by close friends and family, will take place at the Settler's Monument in Grahamstown on September 19.

The couple, who were secretly engaged in France last year, have a five-year-old son and Msengana, known as "Bad Boy T", has a nine-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Asked to comment on the wedding, Nkayi said weddings were private family affairs that were not to be talked about in newspapers.

"A wedding is an intimate family ritual that cannot be discussed with strangers. It is a rite of passage. Our wedding has nothing to do with our work.

"This is why we have not issued any invitations or a statement to the media," she said.

Rumour has it that the couple took the quiet route because of financial constraints. Msengana is out of radio work after he left Metro FM when he was demoted to a less glamorous midday slot.
