WASHINGTON - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak says the time is over for interim deals between the Palestinians and Israel.

Mubarak said in comments aired late on Monday that the two countries should negotiate a final peace deal.

"We have to consider the whole issue holistically," Mubarak said in an interview broadcast by US television network CBS.

"Forget about temporary because the people will think that this is the final step," he said in the interview during his visit to Washington this week.
