The Peter Mokaba Memorial Golf tournament has been postponed for a lack of funds.

The event organised by Limpopo Eagles Golf Association (Lega), in honour of the late former ANC Youth League president Peter Mokaba, and sponsors LimDev was scheduled for June to coincide with youth activities but was postponed to August 8 to give way to the recently concluded Confederations Cup.

Lega's spokesperson Pat "Fingers" Moyaha said: "It was with regret that they had to inform golfers, sponsors and supporters that the eighth edition was postponed due to insufficient funds.

"We expect to host it in September," Moyaha said.

LimDev's managing director Stan Mathabatha committed themselves to the tournament but said some concerns still needed to be clarified.

But Lega's secretary Aaron Sekwakwa said they did not know anything about "the concerns", adding that a change of venue from Polokwane to Modimolle could be the concern.
