Captain Khephu Ndlovu said at the weekend that a 30-year-old man allegedly tried to commit an armed robbery when two guards spotted him.
"The man was trying to rob someone in the Durban CBD and the security guards saw him. They fired shots at him," he said.
Ndlovu said the two security guards are in custody.
They are due to appear in the Durban magistrate's court today on a murder charge. - Sapa
