Prize for nutrition activists

NESTLE, Sowetan's nation-building partner in the Community Nutrition Awards, seeks nominations for the international Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value.

NESTLE, Sowetan's nation-building partner in the Community Nutrition Awards, seeks nominations for the international Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value.

The awards contribute to the national campaign to make food security a priority by recognising, acknowledging, rewarding and developing women-led community food gardens that help combat malnutrition .

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value carries a R3,6 million prize. T he competition recognises, acknowledges and rewards an individual, non-governmental organisation or business that demonstrates creativity in improving access to, and management of water to improve the lives of farmers and ruralpeople.

A winner or winners will be announced in April 2010. Nestle South Africa chairman Yves Manghardt said that for a business to be successful, it has to create value for its shareholders and for society.

"The competition points to a drive in our business globally to invest in areas where there are challenges in terms of financial investments," he said.
