COSATU yesterday expressed its support for the economic cluster ministers after reports that a debate was raging in the ANC about "minorities" holding key positions.

Cosatu spokesperson Patrick Craven said the federation was confident ministers Pravin Gordhan (Finance), Ebrahim Patel (Economic Development) and Rob Davies (Trade and Industry) were committed to the policies of the ANC.

"Cosatu reaffirms its unequivocal support for the three ministers in the economic cluster," Craven said.

"The president could not have made a better choice."

This follows ANC Youth League president Julius Malema's asking why the economic cluster was headed by "nonindigenous Africans" while the security cluster was headed by "indigenous-Africans."
