BERLIN-German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed shock yesterday over the death of Russian human rights activist Zarema Sadulayeva.

"I'm dismayed over the murder of Zarema Sadulayeva and her husband and fiercely condemn this cowardly act," Steinmeier said.

The couple were reportedly abducted from their office on Monday and shot dead.

Their bodies were later found in the luggage compartment of a car in a suburb of the Chechen capital of Grozny, the Interfax news agency reported.

Steinmeier appealed to the Russian authorities to find the perpetrators without delay. - Sapa-DPA
