TWO men were arrested after they robbed the Edenvale licensing department by pretending to be guards coming to collect money.

One man dressed in a G4 security company uniform knocked on the door usually used by the cash-in-transit guards.

He was given a box of money and signed for it, said Inspector Mveli Nhlapo yesterday.

"Usually when the guards leave some of our employees accompany them to the vehicle ... but this man refused. He said he would be fine and that raised suspicion."

One employee then checked the car he was travelling in and saw a white Toyota Conquest. He shouted and the vehicle was stopped before leaving the premises.

"Two suspects managed to get away. The driver and the suspect who had collected the money were arrested on the spot by our house robbery task team," Nhlapo said.

He said the driver was allegedly found in possession of a pistol and the box with R152000 in cash was recovered. - Sapa
