Coach satisfied with Lady Boks

SOUTH African national rugby women's team coach Denver Wannies said yesterday that he was satisfied with his team's performance after their 17-17 draw against France at the Nations Cup in Canada.

SOUTH African national rugby women's team coach Denver Wannies said yesterday that he was satisfied with his team's performance after their 17-17 draw against France at the Nations Cup in Canada.

The South Africans were unlucky not to open their Nations Cup campaign with a win after the French snatched a draw, thanks to Manon Andrea's last-minute try.

Despite the disappointment, Wannies said he was reasonably happy with how his team performed against a team such as France, who are regularly exposed to international opposition.

"We'll take the draw, but naturally there will be some disappointment after we boasted a fairly comfortable 14-7 lead," Wannies said.

"But we must not forget that France are a team that regularly compete on the international stage, so this result does go a long way in telling us where we are in terms of our performances against competitors.

Obviously we'd like to win more matches and that will come with some regular matches.

"We'll take all the positives from this performance and try and work on some of the negatives that are still in our game. Hopefully we'll get the winning result against Canada on Thursday." - Sapa
