YOU could almost feel the love of God when Joyous Celebration's gospel tunes reverberated through the Sun City Superbowl on Sunday night in a performance put together to celebrate Women's Day.

Such was the performance by the gospel group that even a sinner like me was moved to tears. It's unbelievable that after more than a decade of pure gospel the magic is still there.

Even with relatively young and new musicians in the fold - as well as veterans like Jabu Hlongwane in their midst - the group gave a memorable performance.

Particularly impressive was Kgotso Makgalema when he brought the house down with his dance moves.

Makgalema was apparently unearthed during the I Want To Sing Gospel television show.

Nobathembu Mabeka also rocks. She might have a big body but she certainly can rock the boat.

The ensemble of 30 voices, a seven-piece band and six dancers has for more than a decade been entertaining the nation and has to date unleashed 13 albums.

This is the brainchild of gospel music heavyweights Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwane and Mthunzi Namba.

Over the years, a rich crop of musicians have been discovered through this group. While many in the cast come and go, the material keeps getting better.

Now it appears there is another platform for discovering new talent through the TV show that unearthed Makgalema and others.

To be bombarded with so much gospel for several hours, until past midnight, and still enjoy it was something out of the ordinary for me.

I am not sure if I agree with Mkhize conducting from the stage but he certainly gets the boys and girls going.
