Mom and girls in court over dagga

A MOTHER and her two young daughters have been arrested in Fairlands in Johannesburg for growing dagga, Gauteng police said yesterday.

A MOTHER and her two young daughters have been arrested in Fairlands in Johannesburg for growing dagga, Gauteng police said yesterday.

The 38-year-old woman and her two daughters, ages 16 and 18, were found to be growing hydroponic dagga in the cupboards of a house, said captain Julia Claassen.

They were arrested on Sunday. Police confiscated dagga with a street value of R20000.

Claassen said hydroponic dagga is stronger than cannabis grown outdoors.

She said the three would be charged with manufacturing and dealing in dagga.

They are set to appear in the Johannesburg magistrate's court today. - Sapa
