Mdletshe does it for women this time

MXOLISI Mdletshe, the go-getting young man who earlier this year cycled from Pretoria to Cape Town to raise awareness of the importance of education, is on another nation-building campaign.

MXOLISI Mdletshe, the go-getting young man who earlier this year cycled from Pretoria to Cape Town to raise awareness of the importance of education, is on another nation-building campaign.

Inspired by his cycling feat, called Mission Possible, he has now organised the Women's Day Drakensberg Women's Day Endurance Challenge in support of Women's Month. It started on August 1 and will end on August 9 to coincide with Women's Day commemorations.

The challenge features a group of professional and amateur cyclists pedalling from Pretoria through to Pietermaritzburg.

The women will climb the Drakensberg's Cathedral Peak on Women's Day.

The Women's Day Endurance Challenge 2009 seeks to:

l Help shift the mind-set over what is possible and impossible in women's lives;

l Understand the underlying issues preventing South Africans, particularly women, from succeeding, especially in male-dominated spheres, and to;

l Inspire, define new possibilities and create a new platform for talking to different people with common ideas, ideals and objectives, while also starting to define new social strategies.

To follow the women's progress, visit the Facebook group - known as the South African Dream Foundation.
