Twisted minds

THERE is a familiar - albeit chilling - ring to the modus operandi of the man accused of being the sugarcane serial killer, Thozamile Taki, who is at present appearing in a KwaZulu-Natal court in connection with the murder of 13 women.

Without presuming Taki's guilt, since he remains innocent until proven guilty, the similarities between the sugarcane killings and past serial killings are compelling.

A common feature is the deadly ruse often used by serial killers and other conmen of dangling nonexistent jobs before desperate women.
