Many people love the funny side of life and thanks to comedians such as Ndumiso Lindi, their funny bones are tickled over and over.

Lindi has been a professional comedian since 2006. Born in Zwelitsha in King William's Town and now based in Cape Town, he is a talented up-and-coming comedian.

Lindi, who is popular for his trademark hat, entertains with proficiency and professionalism. He has performed all over the country and has shared the stage with many famous entertainers.

He tells jokes about his life and his family and he also compares the lives of white and black people: "A dog in white families is regarded as a member of the family. While with black people, a dog is kept just to protect you - nothing more, nothing less".

Lindi believes that comedy has a bright future in South Africa.

"When we first started comedy, black people were not so much into it. Most of them did not consider it entertainment," Lindi says.

He says he became a comedian by accident.

"It was at a Vodacom Campus Tour Competition at the University of Cape Town that I was first introduced to local stand-up comedy.

"A friend of mine entered a comedy competition and won a phone. The next year I entered and I also won a phone. From then on I never looked back," Lindi says.

He then began performing in clubs. In the national arena Lindi launched his career with Blacks Only Comedy.

"It was my first time and I was the only newcomer in the line-up. I was up against established comedians from Gauteng. I did well and since that day Joburg audiences have enjoyed my comedy," he says.

Lindi says he has been a funny person his entire life.

"From an early age I have been funny, but I never realised that I could make a living out of it.

"When I was growing up, I used to imitate international comedians such as Barney Mac and Bill Cosby," Lindi says.
