The three failed to honour a scheduled function at Kliptown in Soweto.
The three beauties were scheduled to parade in style and cycle through the streets of Kliptown to promote a new tourist route for cyclists.
The event was, however, cancelled when it became obvious they would not make it to the Soweto Hotel where the event was to begin.
The organiser of the cycling party to which Sowetan was invited, Robyn Bollay, sounded disappointed when she spoke to Sowetan at the hotel. "I actually do not know why they did not turn up," Bollay confessed.
Maduko, who later visited the Sowetan offices in Rosebank, apologised profusely for not making it.
"I had a problem with transport because at home we only have one car, which had to take my siblings to school. I actually turned up there, but I was late. I really apologise," she said.
We could not reach the other two for comment concerning their non-appearance.
Maduko was crowned Miss Soweto on Saturday at the popular Maponya Mall.
She follows in the footsteps of the likes of Basetsana Kumalo, now a successful businesswoman; Doris Msibi, a TV presenter and corporate image consultant; and Jacqui Mofokeng among a host of others.
