FIFTY one people were arrested in Hillbrow at the weekend for crimes ranging from street robbery to fraud, central Johannesburg police said.

FIFTY one people were arrested in Hillbrow at the weekend for crimes ranging from street robbery to fraud, central Johannesburg police said.

The suspects were arrested in Hillbrow, Braamfontein, Joubert Park, Berea, Killarney and Houghton, said Captain Bhekizizwe Mavundla yesterday.

They were arrested for crimes including possession and dealing in drugs, fraud, assault, possession of stolen property, housebreaking, theft and street robbery. Among those arrested were three men found in possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition. They were linked to serious robberies in and around Johannesburg.

All suspects were expected to appear in the Hillbrow and Johannesburg magistrates' courts soon, said Mavundla. - Sapa
