The Communication Workers Union is demanding that Telkom first move employees from lower to higher salary scales before implementing the increase.
CWU general secretary Gallant Roberts said workers in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape would not report for duty until Wednesday.
Roberts said in the event of Telkom not yielding to workers' demands, workers would stage a national march on August 11.
"Telkom is warned to make meaningful offers or face a serious showdown with the union. Members will not accept conditional agreements," Roberts said.
The Telkom strike comes after the South African Municipal Workers Union and Independent Municipal Workers Trade Union ended the week-long strike by municipal workers.
The employer body, South African Local Government Association, and the unions signed a 13percent across-the-board wage increase on Friday.
Services are expected to return to normal today.
Meanwhile, at the SABC CWU and Media Workers Association of South Africa are to consult their members today on the new 10percent offer put forward by the public broadcaster.
