Sharks head coach John Plumtree was quite excited after his charges eventually ended their long winning drought in Bloemfontein.
The defending champions blasted the Cheetahs 21-12 in a tough Absa Currie Cup encounter at Free State Stadium under atrocious playing conditions on Friday.
It is almost five years since the Durbanites last tasted victory at this venue against the hosts in any local domestic competitions.
Playing in Bloemfontein has been causing the KwaZulu-Natal outfit sleepless nights but this time round they surprised their opponents with a deserved win.
Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Plumtree heaped compliments on his charges for the tremendous effort they put in against their hoodoo team.
"Free State has been a miserable ground for us for the past five years. Obviously, securing a win after such a long time is really a great achievement for the team and technical staff.
"And that itself has boosted the boys' confidence and are now looking forward to keeping the momentum and working hard to contest for the top four positions on the log," said Plumtree.
The unbeaten Griquas have opened a five-points lead on top of the log following a 23-19 victory over the Lions at Ellis Park Stadium.
They are leading the pack with 19 points from four rounds.
The Pretoria-based side gave the Boland Cavaliers a free rugby lesson when they smashed them 50-18 at Loftus Stadium in Tshwane.
Captain Luke Watson marshalled the Western Province to a 48-7 win over Leopards at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
The former Springbok scored a hat-trick of tries to see his team holding on the the fourth spot.
