The suspect, from the North West diamond mine, is set to appear at the Schweitzer Reneke magistrates court today.
Frans Tshokolo Modise, 39, a cook at Kronpan farm in Schweiter Reneke which also has a diamond mine, was shot in the head with a riffle on Friday afternoon.
Spokesperson for North West provincial police captain Adele Myburgh said the incident occurred on Friday.
Modise, who cooks for staff at the farm, was collecting dishes behind a trailer used on the property as a sorting house after lunch.
Myburgh said the supervisor, who was arrested in connection with the shooting, told the police that it was not intentional.
He allegedly said that he was aiming at a guinea fowl at the mielie field with a riffle and "he had already squeezed the trigger when Modise emerged behind the trailer".
She added that Modise, who died at the scene, was positively identified by a family member shortly after the incident.
Myburgh said that police confiscated a double barrel riffle shortly after the killing.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Schweitzer Reneke magistrates court to face murder charges.
