Lions lose Vermaak

LIONS scrumhalf Jano Vermaak will miss the Absa Currie Cup clash against pacesetters Griquas at Ellis Park Stadium today after concerns about the concussion he suffered in last Saturday's game against the Leopards in Rustenburg.

LIONS scrumhalf Jano Vermaak will miss the Absa Currie Cup clash against pacesetters Griquas at Ellis Park Stadium today after concerns about the concussion he suffered in last Saturday's game against the Leopards in Rustenburg.

This was confirmed yesterday by the Lions manager, Mustapha Boomgaard, who said Vermaak would be replaced by Chris Jonck.

Vermaak was initially named in the starting line-up for their important match, which was announced by coach Hans Coetzee at a press conference on Tuesday.

"We will comply with the doctor's recommendations that Vermaak should be excluded from tomorrow's game after his examining him (Vermaak) late on the same day (Tuesday)," Boomgaard said.. - Meshack Khotha
