After a creditable away 40-19 triumph over the Leopards in Rustenburg last weekend, the Lions will be under pressure to repeat the performance against the Griquas.
Despite beating the Kimberley side twice last season, Lions coach Hans Coetzee believes those victories are water under the bridge.
"This is a new ball game and we are facing a different and consistent team that has been on top of its game," Coetzee said yesterday.
"We have been working hard on our poor finishing this week and the boys look sharper and determined to secure a home win with a bonus point."
The home side is second on the log with 10 points from three games, five points behind pacesetters Griquas from the same number of matches.
The undefeated Griquas, under the captaincy of Jonathan Mokuena, the former Boks Sevens skipper, will be looking forward to extending their winning streak.
Last week, the Griquas showed no mercy when they trounced the struggling Boland Cavaliers 80-7 in Kimberley.
And it doesn't get any easier for the Cavaliers this week, when they face a Blue Bulls team still smarting from their 13-19 loss to the Sharks in Durban last weekend, at Loftus at 7pm.
In Bloemfontein, the struggling Cheetahs hope Lady Luck will smile on them this time round when they meet the Sharks. In the last game of the day, the Leopards travel to Cape Town to face Western Province at Newlands, also at 7pm.
