Aces put star player on transfer

MPUMALANGA Black Aces midfielder Lehumo Itshegetseng is set to quit the team after the newly promoted Absa Premiership side revealed yesterday that they have put him on transfer.

This comes barely a week after the 23-year-old won the club's players' player of the season and goal of the season awards.

Thabo "T-Bose" Moroape, Amazayoni spokesperson, said: "The player's attitude has overgrown the team and as a result we decided to put him on the transfer list. There is no player bigger than the Aces brand. We felt that we must put him on transfer so that he can go and try his luck somewhere else."

He said any team that might be interested in him must communicate with Aces first as the player won't go for free.

Itshegetseng joined Aces from Arthur Zwane's side, Galatasary, in 2007 after impressing in the SAB Castle Regional League national playoffs in Embalenhle in the same year.

He had a great 2008-09 season with Amazayoni and was instrumental when they beat Thanda Royal Zulu 3-0 in the second leg of the playoffs that ensured the team's promotion to the Absa Premiership.

Said Itshegetseng: "They put me on transfer because I'm fighting for my rights. All I want is a good offer that will make me happy and focus on playing football only."

He said if he doesn't get what he believes he is worth, he does not see himself donning the Aces jersey in the coming season.

His agent, Abel "Chaklas" Shongwe, could not be reached for comment.
