AFRO-JAZZ singer Thandiswa Mazwai will dazzle music lovers with her offerings at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg next Friday.

Mazwai, who recently released her second album, Ibhokwe, will be performing as part of a Women's Celebrations Bash. Ever since bursting into the limelight Mazwai has been a formidable part of the South African cultural landscape.

Mazwai will not be performing alone, she will share the stage with musicians such as Ntokozo Masinga, Tshepo Mngoma and Basadi Women of Jazz.

Masinga's long overdue return to the music stage will finally happen this time. The 1990s one-hit wonder and South African R&B sensation, has announced her return with a jazz album.

Among the beauties will be beast Mngoma, who will be launching his first solo project. Since graduating he has worked with a number of musicians and has been involved in a number of exciting music projects.

Mngoma has been featured in the Word on Music series, performing solo accompanied by the JMI orchestra, alongside Pops Mohamed and a Chinese violinist. He composed a piece which was performed at the Jazz Meets Symphony concert at the Linder Auditorium.

Wrapping the event will be female jazz band Basadi Women of Jazz. Basadi are a successful five-piece women band that has laid a solid foundation in the South African music scene.

Since its inception 10 years ago the band has proven that playing instruments and composing music is not a men's thing. The group's style is rich with diverse sounds such as Phata-Phata, blues and even rock.
