NATIONAL Lottery operator Gidani has donated groceries to the Berea-Hillbrow Home of Hope for abused women and children.

Gidani raised more than R300000 in March when it hosted its first Chairman's Golf Day.

R22000 worth of groceries and cleaning products will be donated every month for the next year.

Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said: "Other than groceries, mattresses, beds and blankets were also donated yesterday to Mama Khanyi and her team for the 45 residents of her home."

The Johannesburg inner city home was founded by Khanyisile Motsa as a non-profit organisation.

Berea-Hillbrow Home of Hope accommodates exploited children, provides orphan care support and feed the homeless.

Motsa said most of the children and women were exploited through prostitution .

"Some are already infected with the HIV-Aids by the time they come to us."
