A SECURITY guard agitated by his dismissal from work has allegedly gunned down his employer.

The incident happened in Cresta, Johannesburg yesterday.

The vehicle tracking company manager had just informed the man that he could no longer work for the firm when an argument ensued.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said: "The man was fired from his job. He must have lost his temper and drew his service pistol and shot his employer once in the head. The employer died at the scene."

He said the boss, whose name cannot be released until his next of kin had been notified, was found in a pool of blood in his office. The security guard was arrested.

"The man has been charged with murder and is being detained at the Linden police station. Investigations into the matter are under way and he should appear in court soon," Mdletshe said.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics found the 33-year-old manager dead in his office.

He said other workers chased the guard as he tried to escape the scene and caught him in the parking lot.
