The investigation come after a clerk at the hospital was arrested in connection with corruption at the weekend.
The clerk had allegedly solicited a R200 bribe from a patient.
It was alleged that he told the patient he owed the department R700 for health and accommodation.
Police said the suspect was arrested after a complaint was laid at the police that the clerk had demanded R200 and failed to provide a receipt.
The patient alleged the official told him the amount would be used to reduce his debt.
The clerk, Eric Ramaru, appeared briefly in the Musina magistrate's court yesterday and the matter was postponed for further investigations.
Departmental spokesperson Selby Makgotho said it was regrettable that their own officials would bring the department's name into disrepute by soliciting bribes from patients.
