Now, protests can be expected at the Mutale district municipality. I am not an activist , but this time we are mobilising the communities from various regions to protest against poor service delivery within this municipality.
Our Constitution allows citizens the right to protest.
I do not blame the poor people who are protesting about local government's bad service delivery, which is simply pathetic in every respect.
I know for a fact that each official, when they were appointed, had promised to provide services to all the people.
Now the majority of ANC officials are blaming service delivery problems on centuries of colonialism and apartheid, saying that those systems led to poverty and underdevelopment and that 15 years of democracy is too short to fix all the problems.
The lack of service delivery in Mutale is set to continue while the municipality is burdened with officials who have no vision and no expertise in effective management.
This is not surprising, if you consider the incompetent and inept ANC-appointed officials who are running the municipality. In all my life, I have never come across municipal councillors who do not interact or consult with communities or listen to the challenges faced by the people.
In this municipality, you find that residents are not involved during the integrated development plan meetings. It is again in this municipality where corruption and nepotism is rife .
Again, our Constitution allows South African citizens the right to strike, and this time, the members of the communities will be mobilised to protest about the bad service delivery in the Mutale municipal district area.
