BUDAPEST - Ferrari chairperson Luca di Montezemolo said he was confident that badly injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa would recover, after visiting him in hospital in Budapest yesterday.

"I saw that Felipe's recovery is going in an optimistic way," Di Montezemolo told a press conference after visiting the 28-year-old Brazilian driver.

"I am confident in his capability to recover."

Massa suffered skull and eye injuries when he was hit on the head by a spring during qualifying runs for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday.

Neurosurgeon Robert Veres, who operated on Massa after the crash, said the driver was able to communicate with foot and hand movements. - AFP
