No rest for Santana

BAFANA Bafana coach Joel Santana is using his holiday in Brazil to prepare for the team's intensive training camp in January ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

BAFANA Bafana coach Joel Santana is using his holiday in Brazil to prepare for the team's intensive training camp in January ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

"We have asked him to get facilities for the camp and he will give us a report when he returns next week from holiday," said Bafana Bafana's manager Sipho Nkumane yesterday.

Bafana's technical team will be back in the first week of August to start preparations for the friendly game against Serbia in Atteridgeville on August 12.

"Our preparations for the 2010 World Cup are going very well, we will play against the best teams in the world," said Nkumane.

After the game against the 14th ranked Serbia, 70th ranked Bafana Bafana will also play two way friendlies against Germany and Iceland. Serbia are still busy with their qualification matches. They need a win over France in Belgrade on September 9 to book a place in the finals in South Africa and coach Radomir Antic is upbeat about their chances.

On his impressions about Bafana Bafana, Antic said: "The South African team once again proved its football qualities by qualifying for the semifinal of the Confederations Cup. It is a very good team, with impressive physical and tactical ability."

Meanwhile, tickets for the Bafana Bafana-Serbia game are on sale at Computicket.
