The 26-year-old was fined earlier this week for returning to pre-season training two weeks late following the northeast outfit's relegation from the Premier League.
Gareth Southgate had already admitted he was resigned to seeing Mido and Tuncay Sanli leave this summer, and the Boro boss revealed there has also been an upturn in enquiries for the Turkey international forward.
He told the club's website: "Interest has certainly stepped up. We have received an offer for Mido which the club finds acceptable. It's up to the player and maybe something will happen over the next week."
Mido joined Boro from Tottenham for £6million (then R87million) in August 2007 but spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan helping the Lancashire club secure their top-flight status. The news of his impending departure follows Stewart Downing's £12 million (R153million) move to Aston Villa last week. - Sapa-AFP
