Poachers warned

South African National Parks chief executive David Mabunda says they will spend R2million to increase the number of rangers in the parks.

"Poachers must beware. We will seek them out, we will find them and they will be dealt with," Mabunda warned.

"This is a war we plan on winning."

Mabunda, who was talking to journalists during an information session in Skukuza yesterday, said the funds would be used to employ 57 more rangers.

He said the money would also be used to buy more motorbikes for the rangers.

Apart from this, the funds would be used to buy a state-of-the-art crime information management system that would help increase visibility on the ground and improve anti-poaching activities.

The money for all this will come from the Parks Development Fund.
