PILLARS back home

LAGOS - Nigeria's Kano Pillars will return to their home ground when they host El Merriekh of Sudan at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano next month after almost a year playing away, officials have announced.

Pillars were forced to play most of their home league games last season as well as all their Champions League matches in neighbouring Kaduna because their home ground was being refurbished for the Fifa Under-17 World Cup that will be hosted by Nigeria in October.

"We have informed CAF of our new venue, which is the Sani Abacha Stadium," said Ibrahim Galadima, who heads a special committee to oversee Pillars's international campaign.

"We will now play in front of our home fans.

"It is a welcome development."
