NEW faces are set to grace our television screens from next month in two different soapies as actresses cross floors.
Former beauty queen Phuti Khomo, who burst into the limelight when she was crowned Miss SA Teen in 2002, joins Generations as a hard-hitting brand executive.
The 25-year-old beauty currently features on SABC1's drama series Mtunzini.com.
Khomo's acting credits include stints on Egoli and Rhythm City.
Once nominated by FHM magazine as one of South Africa's 50 most beautiful women, she has also hosted a weekend show on youth radio station Yfm.
Channel O presenter Mmarona Motshekga is the latest celebrity to join e-tv's soapie Rhythm City.
Motshekga, who hosts four different programmes on the music channel, will play the part of a stylish journalist, lesbian and Wandi's girlfriend Keke in the soapie.
Meanwhile, Yfm weekend presenter Azaria Khehle Tshabalala will launch his acting career when he makes his debut in a Nigerian movie he will also co-produce.
Tshabalala, who hosts the station's breakfast show on Saturdays and Sundays, will feature alongside famous Nollywood actor Dr Ibu.
In the movie Dr Ibu arrives in South Africa to work as a security guard.
He quickly loses his job but finds an attractive South African girlfriend and shacks up with her.
Tshabalala plays a taxi driver who ferries Ibu from the airport. Once settled, Ibu returns to Nigeria to fetch his children.
To their shock, the children learn that their father not only has another woman but also has a stepson.
"This part is just for me because I don't have to learn their accent because the action takes place here. It's a culture shock for Dr Ibu when he lands at the airport," said Tshabalala.
Shooting starts in two weeks in Nigerian and will be completed in South Africa in October.
