Among them is the trial of Mulalo Sivhidzho on a charge of the murder of her husband Avhatakali Netshisaulu, son of former City Press editor Mathatha Tsedu.
Sivhidzho wants her confession thrown out of court, claiming that the police tortured her into making the statement.
The court has reserved its ruling in the trial-within-a-trial of Sivhidho's co-accused Ntabudzeni Matsenene and prosecutors are expected to lead evidence on Sivhidzo's claims.
Netshisaulu was found burnt to ashes in the boot of his car after he allegedly called his wife to say he was being followed.
Another alleged husband killer, Celiwe Mbokazi, is also due in court on Monday. She is the widow of tourism mogul Franz Richter. She allegedly hired five men, including her lover Mazwi Khumalo, to rob and kill Richter.
Richter was shot at close range and robbed of R25000 while travelling with Mbokazi and their two adopted children at Heia Safari, near Krugersdorp. Mbokazi allegedly hoped to inherit a house and R1million from her husband.
Another high profile case is that of alleged airport heist kingpin Chris Billing, who failed to get his trial thrown out of court.
Billing's application for a stay of prosecution in the R100million airport heist case is expected to start soon.
Billings is one of 13 people charged with stealing millions in foreign currency from South African Airways cargo in March 2006.
