Employers and workers in the Jane Furse and Origstad areas in Limpopo must be wary of bogus labour inspectors, the department of labour said.

Albert Tshidavhu, the department's provincial executive manager, said yesterday the bogus officials were asking unsuspecting people who had resigned or lost their jobs in recent months to provide them with details and copies of their IDs, bank cards and PIN numbers.

This was in an attempt to "speed up Unemployment Insurance Fund payments" on their behalf.

"We want to place it on record that a labour inspector will never demand your bank details and PIN code when processing the UIF claim," Tshidavhu said.

Employers and businesses that needed any assistance or service could visit their nearest labour centre at no charge.

He also urged suspecting clients to report such incidents to the police. - Sapa
