KINSHASA - A Congolese employee of Caritas was killed after he was allegedly arrested by two men in the uniform of the regular army in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the aid organisation said yesterday.

Caritas is a Roman Catholic relief agency. The body of the victim, an agricultural expert of 27, was found near Rutshuru in Nord-Kivu province shortly after witnesses said he was arrested on July 15 by FARDC (regular army) soldiers. "The man was shot in the throat and heart. He was executed," said a Caritas official. - Sapa-AFP
