R3,6bn for Limpopo development

PROVISION of shelter, the construction of bridges and roads and the supply of electricity will be the main focus of the Limpopo provincial department of local government and housing during this financial year.

PROVISION of shelter, the construction of bridges and roads and the supply of electricity will be the main focus of the Limpopo provincial department of local government and housing during this financial year.

This was pointed out yesterday by MEC for local government and housing Soviet Lekganyane.

Lekganyane said his department had set aside R3,6billion through the municipal infrastructure grant to improve the lives of all the residents of the province in both rural and urban areas.

He said of the total amount of the budget, about R1billion, would be used for the electrification of rural houses in far-flung areas of the province and more than R600million for the municipal support and township establishment and site demarcations in Mopani, Sekhukhune, Vhembe, Capricorn and the Waterberg area.
