A 38-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after he allegedly killed a 25-year-old man with an axe in KwaDabeka on Sunday night.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Bongani Khomo said the two men were drinking liquor when the incident happened.

"Apparently the suspect owed the deceased some money for second-hand clothes he had sold him, Khomo said."

"It is suspected that he might have demanded his money, resulting in the suspect killing him with an axe.

"The deceased, who was working as a domestic worker, is believed to come from Jozini in northern Zululand."

Khomo said the police were looking for the man's relatives who are believed to be living in Pinetown.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Pinetown magistrate's court today in connection with the murder.

In a separate incident, three men were arrested in connection with the murder of two people whose bodies were found in a trolley in Durban last month.

Two of the men were arrested in Lindelani, outside KwaMashu, in the early hours of yesterday morning, while the third had been nabbed on Friday.

"The men, one aged 25 and two aged 27, have been charged with killing a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a trolley with multiple stab wounds on June 23," police said.

The men were to appear in the Durban magistrate's court yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, five community members of the KwaKhoza area in Eshowe appeared briefly in the local magistrate's court, where their case was postponed to next Monday.

Bonokwakhe Mkhize, 28, Sakhile Mhlongo, 24, Bukisiwe Mhlongo, 45, Obed Shandu, 35, and Fabiyantuli Biyela, 52, were arrested on Friday for allegedly stoning and hacking to death well-known businessman Mzameleni Mhlongo, whom they accused of trying to kill a woman for muti.

Mhlongo, who ran three supermarkets, had been attacked by an angry mob after one of 10 women who had been collecting wood in the bush claimed that he had tried to "snatch" her and kill her for muti.

The suspects will appear in court again next Monday for a formal bail application.
