Banyana Banyana captain Kylie-Ann Louw, has become the latest South African player to make an impression overseas, winning herself a scholarship in the highly regarded college league in the United States.

Banyana Banyana captain Kylie-Ann Louw, has become the latest South African player to make an impression overseas, winning herself a scholarship in the highly regarded college league in the United States.

Louw joins three other Banyana players who already play in that league - Dineo Mmutle of Culver College for girls and Veronica Phewa and Lena Mosebo, who are at FC Indiana.

Louw secured herself a four year scholarship at Stephen F Austin university and will leave for the US next Monday.

An ecstatic Louw said she looked forward to taking her career to the next level and to continue developing as a player.

"They contacted me, and the process to join them - which is usually quite a difficult exercise -- went surprisingly smoothly. It is a good sporting university and my main aim is to utilise the higher technical facilities and methods and improve my own game," Louw said.

A notable product of the university is Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey, who starred for the US in the Confederations Cup last month.

Louw - who has been playing for Sasol League club Luso Ladies was quick to emphasise that her new home will not stand in the way of her duties for Banyana.

"Obviously, for friendly matches the coach will probably opt to bring in new talent, but I will always be available when the team needs me," Louw said.

If the Four Nations Cup, which was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, last week, is anything to go by, more Banyana players might be on their way out to greener pastures.

Players such as Nompumelelo Nyandeni, Noko Matlou, Janine van Wyk and, critically for the national team, new caps such as Mamphashe Popela and goalkeeper Wendy Borella were outstanding and European scouts who had come out to watch the matches, would have taken note of that.
