WHAT we saw recently in the Buffalo City municipality is a shame as far as development and service delivery in this promising municipality is concerned.

The municipality is now coming of age under mayor Zukisa Faku but the various camps in the ANC are costing Buffalo City and delaying service delivery.

We, the poor citizens of the municipality, urge chief whip Sonny du Plessis, and the councillors who want to oust the mayor, to resign - for the sake of service delivery and development.

I strongly believe that the 17 councillors need to be mentally examined because they are not progressive at all.

How can they focus on divisions, factions and camps instead of on service delivery?

Faku has always been a victim of the truth. She was shown the door in the past as speaker because she wanted answers about the big mayoral house.

Now, because she refuses to grant big contracts to certain individuals, they want to show the mayor the door.

I strongly believe that the South African Municipal Workers Union is heading in the right direction and we the citizens of this beautiful municipality and members of the ruling party must fight with them.

The ANC Youth League president once said we must defend the revolution against the puppets of the capitalist agenda and that we must "rise up and defend" our revolution.

So let us defend Faku from these puppets of the capitalist agenda.
