The two municipal heads are allegedly fighting for power and have demonstrated the differences between them publicly by not speaking to each other.
The administration head and manager of the municipality, Isaac Makhura, and the political head of the institution, Serite Sekgoloane, have now also resorted to bad-mouthing each other.
Makhura has been accused by many people of failing to do his administration work because he lacks capacity.
Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Victor Dankuru, of the Democratic Alliance, said Makhura was failing the municipality in that the budgets for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 financial years were rejected by the auditor-general.
He said Makhura was also unable to account to the Limpopo legislature and to the SA National Civics Organisation (Sanco) for R32million in municipal finances.
"Because of his inability to do his work he was charged by the legislature and he is now spending most of his time in court instead of doing what he is employed for - administrating the institution," Dankuru said.
On the other hand, Sekgoloane was accused of having had an influence on the shoddy awarding of contracts to his political friends andrelatives.
This was after a contract to build municipal offices at a cost of R5,7million was awarded to a company run by his brother's girlfriend.
"As if that was not enough, the same company, Bakgalaka Malumash, was awarded another contract worth R3,5million to build a sports complex and taxi rank in Alldays soon after Sekgoloane was appointed mayor," Dankuru said.
"His vehicle has been seen ferrying material to the building site - a move that sparked a brouhaha among officials."
Makhura was not available for comment.
Sekgoloane poured cold water on allegations that he was connected to the Bakgalaka Malumash Construction Company.
