Free State police spokesman Sergeant Malebo Khosana said yesterday: "Two little kids, aged three and six years, were playing with their little plastic spades, digging in the ground, when they noticed something looking like a hand of a baby."
The incident happened on Wednesday at Thabong in Welkom, Free State.
The children called their grandfather, who told the police, who dug out the foetus. - Sapa
