TWO promising players have impressed the Bidvest Wits first team technical staff so much that they have been promoted to the higher level.

They are midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi, 19, from Soweto and right-back Mokholeloa Mabope, 24, from Botshabelo, Bloemfontein, who were promoted from the team's Big Boys Academy this week.

Wits manager George "Soekkies" Mogotsi said yesterday that the duo played an influential role in the junior side's success last season.

Wits have acquired seven new players. They include striker Anderson Yobou, who signed from FC AK, Brazilian midfielder Fabricio Rodrigues, Michael Morton, who is on loan from Pirates, Sipho Mngomezulu from Maritzburg United and Mark Haskins from Moroka Swallows.

The Students are also drawn against Kaizer Chiefs in their first game of the MTN8 Wafa Wafa competition on Tuesday, August 4 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Kickoff is at 7.30pm and the game will be broadcast live on SS4.

Wits will play the Malawian national team today at Sturrock Park, Milpark at 2pm.
