THE Moshupa-Tsela agricultural cooperative project in Mopani, Limpopo, has been hailed by local farmers as the only hope in the fight against poverty and unemployment.

The cooperative is the brainchild of former Mopani executive mayor and now member of Parliament in Humphrey Mokgobi.

The farm Moshopatsela is situated near Broederstroomdrift outside Tzaneen and has already brought four cooperatives together.

The cooperative will give young and aspirant farmers a chance to produce atchar, dried fruit, jam, juice and wine.

The farm, which was bought for R2,9 million from the Land Bank, has received a financial injection of R1,5million from the Mopani district municipality this financial year. - matlalaa@sowetan.co.za
