Parker's move to the Netherlands has ended months of frustration at Serbian club FC Red Star Belgrade, which he joined during the January transfer window.
His stay at Red Star was marred by an unpaid salary and signing-on fee and Parker wanted out of the financially unstable Serbian club. Parker and his agent Mike Makaab could, not be reached for comment yesterday.
But FC Twente have confirmed on their website that they had signed Parker on an R11million deal. The team also announced the arrival at their club of Ajax Cape Town forward Mabhuti Khenyeza, who is hoping to secure a contract.
Parker's move to FC Twente has left many soccer fans in Serbia disappointed as they were hoping that Parker would stay on.
Veljko Vermezovic, a Red Star supporter who is working as a volunteer at the 25th World Student Games, said yesterday: "We are disappointed by the departure of such a talented player."
By later yesterday Red Star officials were still hoping to convince the former Thanda Royal Zulu striker to return to the club.
Parker said at the end of last season that he would not return to Red Star after the team failed to meet their financial obligations.
Other clubs that were after Parker's signature are Maccabi Haifa of Israel, Turkish side Fernebahce, Real Betis of Spain and Panathinaikos of Greece.
