In spite of everything I still love him and his children need him.

He said he no longer wants to be a part of my life and that I must forget about him.

Your children need to have a stable and happy home to live in.

If he is not prepared to build a life with you and the children then it might be time for you to start living your own life.
Irrespective of whether you are married to him or not, he is legally bound to maintain his children.
This situation is not healthy and you must consider moving on with your life.
