By yesterday the strike was reaching its 14th day and the workers had vowed not to return to work unless their demands were met.
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration in Polokwane yesterday sent an official to meet with mine management and officials of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) to look at how best to resolve the impasse.
About 400 employees embarked on protest action over allegations of unfair treatment, dishonesty and cheap tactics allegedly used by management to divide the workers. They also demaed a production bonus allegedly promised to them by management.
The workers had been locked out of the company's premises since they embarked on the strike on June 22.
The NUM's North East regional secretary William Mabapa said yesterday they had made calculations and found that each employee was entitled to a production bonus of at least R19000.
But management had stuck to the amount it gave to workers in February as bonus, which was R900 for each worker.
Mabapa said the strike would continue until management s put something significant on the table.
