A BRAMLEY businessman accused of fraud involving R1,5million was granted bail of R15 000 by the Wynberg magistrate's court yesterday.

His case was postponed to July 27.

William Mphahlele was arrested on Wednesday after 54 of his employees laid a fraud charge against him. It is alleged that his company, African Meter Reading, would deduct R800 from their salaries every month, claiming it was their monthly pension and insurance contributions to a well known insurance company.

But when they asked the company for updates, they found that no such payments had been made. Mphahlele, 46, also faces charges of assault. - Sapa
