The labour court in Johannesburg will rule on an application by their union to challenge their dismissal.
Remant Alton was awarded the R70million black economic empowerment deal and a fleet of 500 buses. It closed shop last month leaving the fate of workers hanging.
Yesterday the Transport Workers Union of South Africa, which represents more than 1 000 workers who lost their jobs when the company closed shop last month, sought an interdict to declare the dismissals invalid.
The courts have already given the workers an interim interdict pending the outcome of an application to the labour court.
Union spokesperson Zack Mankge confirmed that they would be in court on Monday for the decision.
"Should the court declare the interim order invalid on Monday the new bus operator will be bound by a court order to proceed with all the employees."
